A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
zygomorphic, zygomorphous, divisible into equal halves along one plane only; bilaterally symmetric; “bilaterally symmetric; capable of division into essentially symmetrical halves by only one longitudinal plane passing through the axis” sych as the zygomorphic pea flower (WIII); (in bryology) “divisible into two equal parts only through a single plane; bilaterally symmetrical” (Magill 1990); the halves are mirror images of one another: zygomorphicus,-a,-um (adj.A); zygomorphus,-a,-um (adj.A); also: not symmetrical, having no plane, axis or center of symmetry; opp. actinomorphic, q.v., or radially symmetric; cf. irregular, regular; see asymmetric; see symmetric;

- flores zygomorphi, flowers zygomorphic.
