A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
vulgatus,-a,-um (part.A): made common, universal, general, ordinary, common; superl. vulgatissimus,-a,-um (adj.A); [> L. vulgo,-avi,-atum 1. to make general, common or universal; to put forth to the world, publish];

- numerus staminum a 6 ad 8 variat: septenarius vero vulgatissimus (Swartz), the number of stamens varies from 6 to 8: certainly the most common [sc. number] is in sevens.

- [fungi] vulgatissima species, in ericetis ac pinastretis ubique nimia (S&A), an extremely common species, super abundant everywhere in heathlands and Pinastrum communities.

pervulgatus,-a,-um (part.A), q.v.: very common;

- [fungi] pervulgatus hic est viarum praesertim in pinetis arenosarum satelles, glebulis soli sordens, parum gratus visu (S&A), this is quite common, attendant especially in the Pine association of sandy roads, being dirty with little clumps of soil, somewhat pleasing in appearance.
