A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Volvulus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. volvulo, nom. pl. volvuli, acc. pl. volvulos: a volution, turning, revolution, as in the turn of a spire [> L. volvo, volvi, volutum, 3. to turn round, turn about, to roll; to turn over or revolve in the mind, consider, reflect upon]; see rotation;

- elateres flavi, medio duplo crassiores, fere stricti, spiram latissimam parum contortam, ut volvulos 5--7 solos facientem et fere in ipsis apicibus elateris distinctam, gerentes (Lindberg), elaters yellow, in the middle two times thicker, almost straight, bearing a very broad somewhat contorted spire, for example making only 5-7 revolutions and nearly distinct on the very apices of the elater.

Convolvulus, > L. convolvere, to entwine; Volvulus, a genus within Convolvulus.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
