A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

vividus,-a,-um (adj.A): vivid, bright, pure in color; (of color) “bright, vivid” (Stearn); see 'bright-colored;' having or containing life, living, animated;

- Nostra centro plerumque satis vivide flava , versus margines dilutior ochroleuca (S&A), ours with the center usually quite brightly yellow, toward the margins a more dilute [i.e. pale] yellowish-white.

- [synonym of Polytrichum; moss] Muscus Capillusve aureus minor, minus specioso nitore coloreque vivido, triftioreque aspectu (Dillenius), muscus or capillus aureus [i.e. golden], smaller, less showy in glossiness and vivid color, and with a more somber [i.e. dull] overall appearance [i.e. aspect].
