A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
vitellinus,-a,-um (adj.A): egg-yolk yellow, “dull yellow just turning to red. The color of yolk of egg” (Lindley); “like the yolk of an egg; egg-yellow” (Steanr 1996);

- [fungi] color flavus, in vitellinum abiens (S&A), the color yellow, changing into egg-yolk yellow.

- valvae recentes carnoso-coriaceae intus saturatius vitellinae, nec glutinosae, neque lignescentes (F. Mueller), young valves fleshy-coriaceous, inside more deeply vitellinae [i.e. egg-yolk yellow], not glutinous nor somewhat woody.

- faux corollae vitellina, albo-limbata, the entrance of the corolla egg-yolk yellow, white-margined.

Bolbitius vitellinus Fr., a bright yellow fungus; Epidendrum vitellinum, the lip and column of which are orange-yellow; Salix alba var. vitellina, the Golden Willow.
