viscid (Eng.adj.), more sticky than slimy, clammy, i.e. moist and sticky: viscidus,-a,-um (adj.A), “glutinous, clammy” (Lindley); “glutinous; sticky” (Fernald 1950): viscosus,-a,-um (adj.A) [> L. viscus (s.m.II) also viscum (s.n.II) the mistletoe; birdlime made from mistletoe berries; = Gk. ixos (s.m.II), see ‘ixodes,-odis’]; see slimy; cf. lubricus,-a,-um (adj.A), 'smooth and slippery;' see glutinous, ‘sticky;’ ’ cf. limosus,-a,-um (adj.A), slimy, covered with a viscous substance; cf. mucidus,-a,-um (adj.A), ‘snotty;’ see moist, mucilaginous;

- herbae saepissime glanduloso-pilosi, glandulis magnis liquorem viscidam copiosam exsudantibus (B&H), herbs most often glandulose-pilose, with glandules large, exsuding a copious viscid fluid.

- viscidifolius,-a,-um (adj.A), with sticky leaves.

- (fungus) pileus lubricus potius tempore humido quam viscosus (S&A), the pileus lubricous [i.e. smooth and slippery] rather in moist weather than viscous [i.e. somewhat sticky].

- [fungi] guttis grossis viscosis obsito (S&A), beset with coarse, viscous [i.e. sticky] droplets.

- superna facies subcinericea, ad albidum nonnihil vergens, viscido tactu, fungosis verrucis eminentibus conspersa (Ray), the upper part varying from little like ashes to somewhat whitish, with a viscid feel [i.e. sticky to the touch], sprinkled with projecting, spongy warts [i.e. swellings].

Calocera viscosa, a mushroom with the fruiting body viscid; Senecio viscosus, “sticky”, a plant that is ‘heavily viscid-glandular’ (Fernald (1950).

somewhat viscid, viscidulous: viscidulus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- capsula 5-cocca , coccis clausis mucilagine viscidulo illinitis (DeCandolle), capsule 5-[carpelled], with the [carpels] enclosed, smeared over with a somewhat viscid mucilage.

subviscosus,-a,-um (adj.A): ‘tacky, barely sticky to the touch, adhesive;’

- (Clavaria; fungus) frequentior antecedente, curta, inter gramina delitescens, recens lubrica subviscosa (S&A), more frequent than the preceding [sc. species], short [i.e. stumpy], laying hidden among grasses, fresh [sc. specimens] slippery, somewhat viscous [i.e. tacky].
