A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
viginti (num. adj. indecl.) 'twenty;' q.v.;

NOTE: viginti-: in L. comp. 'twenty-'; = Gk. icos-, icosa-, icosi-; see twenty;

- folia vigintijuga, leaves 20-paired; vigintifolius, 20-leaves.

- genitalibus quatuor ad viginti, with the sex organs from four to 20.

- post editionem bryologiae universae Bridelii anni viginti praeteriti sunt (C.Mueller), twenty years are past and gone after [i.e. since] the publication of the Bryologia Universa of Bridel.

- [Arnica] Cor. Composita, radiata. Corollulae hermaphrodltae in disco numerossissima. Femineae in radio, circiter viginti (L.), the corolla compound, radiate. The hermaphrodite corollules [i.e. florets] on the disc very numerous. the Females on the ray [i.e. circumference], around 20.
