A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
View: aspectus,-us (s.m.IV), abl. sg. aspectu 'an outward appearance;' visus,-us (s.m.IV), abl. sg. visu 'an outward appearance;' see profile;

- aspectu cingulari, in girdle view, from the aspect of the girdle.

- aspectu ventrali (dorsali, laterali), in ventral (dorsal, lateral (side)) view.

- aspectu frontali, in frontal view, in face view.

- aspectu aequatorio, in equatorial view

- sporae visu mediano subcuneiformes usque elongatae, spores in median view subcuneiform to elongate.

- in visu polari, in polar view.

- ab obliquo, ex obliquo, obliquely, sideways.

Compare: facies,-ei (s.f.V): external form, shape, appearance, q.v.;

- valve-view: facies (-ei, s.f.V) valvaris (adj.B), facies frontalis (adj.B).

- in facie dorsali et ventrali, on the dorsal and ventral face.

View, a seeing or looking at: conspectus,-us (s.m.IV), q.v., abl. sg. conspectu, 'a seeing, looking at, sight, a look, view;' intuitus,-us (s.m.IV), abl.sg. intuitu: look, view;

- primo intuitu, at first glance.

NOTE: both conspectus,-us (s.m.IV) and synopsis,-is (s.f.III), abl.sg. synopse are also used for 'survey, short general view of a subject, a synopsis.'
