vexatus,-a,-um (part.A): injured, damaged, distressed, troubled [> L. vexo,-avi,-atum 1., to agitate, injur, to apply violent blows to; to harry, abuse; to ravage; to afflict, trouble, upset; to trouble, distress, persecute, torment; to disturb, upset, trouble; to plague, distress, vex]; see damaged;

- pilei arcte imbricati, interdum lobati, alia vice undulato repandi: a limacibus aliisque animalculis misere vexati cito destruuntur (S&A), the caps closely imbricate, sometimes lobed, others in turn undulate-repand, (when) wretchedly damaged by slugs and other animalcules quickly destroyed.

- [Pediastrum; algae] ?Helierella Napoleonis Turpin in Mém. d. Mus. d'hist. nat. XVI (1827) p. 318. tab. XIII. f. 21. (Figura dubiis vexata et interpretatione varia torquata, quam ad calcem huius speciei explicare conabor) (Braun), (the figure is [vexed, troubled, damaged] by uncertainties and twisted with different interpretation, which I shall attempt to explain at the [endnote] of this species).
