A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
variably, changably; in various ways: varie (adv.), variabiliter (adv.), variatim (adv.), diverse (adv.); see also irregulariter (adv.) irregularly;

- ramulis capillaceis utriculos varie dispositos ferentibus, with capillaceous branchlets bearing utricles variously arranged (=arranged in various ways).

- species nova coloniis in CYA post 7 dies in temperatura 25C crescentibus vivide flavis, in parte aversa variabiliter coloratis sed plus minusque rufulo-brunneis tingentibus distinguenda, new species by colonies growing .in CYA after 7 days at

the temperature of 25C brightly yellow, in reverse part variably colored but more or less reddish-brown shaded to be distinguished.

- trichomata varie prostrata atque erecta, trichomes variously prostrate and also erect.

- [lichen] stipite crassulo sicco varie compresso vel plicato (Nyl.), with the stipe rather thick [or fleshy] variously compressed or plicate.
