A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
v.s.: vidi siccam, “I have [seen] it in a dried state” (Stearn); ‘siccam’, acc. sg. of siccus,-a,-um (adj.A), ‘dry, dried,’ refers to planta,-ae (s.f.I); see vidi;

- v. s. in herb. Banks (DeCandolle), vidi siccam, I have seen it in a dried state in the herbarium of [Joseph] Banks.

- (v. s. ex hort. Monspel.) (DeCandolle), [v.s.: = vidi siccam] “I have seen it in a dried state” from a garden in Montpellier [southern France]. Monspel. = Monspeliensis.

- Helianthemum angustifolium in plur. hortis botanicis (v. s.) (DeCandolle), the Helianthemum angustifolium in many botanical gardens (v.s.: vidi siccam, “I have [seen] it in a dried state)”.

- Lagunea angulata hortul. (v. s.) (DeCandolle), the Lagunea angulata of gardeners [hortulanorum] (v.s.: vidi siccam, “I have [seen] it in a dried state”).

- omnes species ex speciminibus in herbario meo asservatis descripiae, designantur solito signo ( v. s. ) (DeCandolle), all the species described are from specimens preserved in my herbarium, are marked by the usual sign (v.s.).
