A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Urediospore, urediniospore; (fungi) (as urediospore) “a newer term for ‘urediniospore;’ a spore born in the ‘uredium’ of the Uredinales, a repeating spore and conidial in nature, germinating without a resting period and hence called a ‘summer spore’” (S&D): urediospora,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. urediospora; urediniospora,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. urediniospora;

- urediniosporis obovoideis, late ellipsoideis, 21-27 x 18-21 um, breviter echinulatis, pariete 1-1.5 um crasso, pallidissime cinnamomeo-brunneis vel pallidissime flavidis, poris germinationis 6-8, sparsis, with the urediniospores obovoid, broadly ellipsoid, 21-27 x 18-21 um, shortly echinulate, with the wall 1-1.5 um thick, very palely cinnamon-brown or very pale light yellow, with the pores of germination 6-8, scattered.

- urediniosporis sessilibus, obovoideis pariete tenuiter echinulato, with the urediniospores sessile, obovoid with the wall delicately echinulate.

Amphispore, “a modified uredinospore that is characteristic of certain rusts of arid regions and that functions as a resting spore” (WIII): amphispora,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. amphispora.
