A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
unde (adv.): place from which, from which place; from whom, from or by what person; from where, whence; for what or which reason; from which source; from which cause, origin;

- frons in sicco revoluta unde nomen plantae (Steph.), the frond in a dry state revolute whence the name of the plant [=Symphyogyna circinata].

- rabies unde illaec germina surgunt, a rabies [i.e. a disease resulting in a madness] from whence those germs arise.

- Australia, unde misit Augustus Erskine (C. Muell.), Australia, whence [i.e. from where] Augustus Erskine sent it.

- LUDIA,-ae (s.f.I), frutices Mauritiani, floribus lateralibus subsessilibus, foliis saepe in iisdem individuis forma variis (1), unde nomen (DeCandolle), Mauritian shrubs with lateral flowers nearly sessile, with the leaves often on the same individuals variable in form, whence the name.
