A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
uliginosus,-a,-um (adj.A): uliginose, inhabiting swamps, marshy, growing in marshes, 'wet, damp, moist, marshy;' ‘of wet or marshy places’ (Bailey 1938); often juxtaposed with paludosus,-a,-um (adj.A), which are wetlands with peat deposits; see aquatic; see paludosus,-a,-um (adj.A), palustris,-e (adj.B) [> L. uligo,-inis (s.f.III)]; see bog, marsh, swamp;

- herbae saepius uliginosae aquaticae v. in locis madidis montium crescentes (B&H), herbs very often growing in marshes, aquatic or growing in the wet places of mountains.

- species ad 6, in uliginosis montium altiorum Andium Americae australis vigentes, usque ad limites nivium aeternarum extensae (B&H), species to 6, in the wet places of the higher mountains of the Andes of South America flourishing, extended up to the limits of perpetual snows.

- locis uliginosis et paludosis e planitie ad alpes sociis muscis aliis palustribus (Jaeg.Sauer.), in marshy and peaty places from the plains to the high mountains in association with other boggy mosses.

- species 1, v. auctoribus nonnullis 3, in fontibus uliginosisque regionum frigidiorum v. temperatarum utriusque orbis crescentes (B&H), species one, or by some authors 3, in springs and swampy places of colder regions or temperate one growing in both [the Old and New Worlds].

Campanula uliginosa, “growing in marshes” (Fernald 1950); Solidago uliginosa, “of marshes” (Fernald 1950).
