A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

trocho-: in Gk. comp., wheel-like.

- trochopteranthus,-a,-um (adj.A) “epithet for a Cyclamen with somewhat propeller-like flowers, from Gk. trochOs, wheel and pteron, wing and anthos, flower (Stearn 1976).

Trochiscanthes. From trochiskcos, a small wheel, and anthos, a flower (Paxton).

Trochobryum, a genus of mosses. Trochocarpa. From trochos, a wheel, and karpos, fruit; the cells of the fruit diverge from a common centre, like the spokes of a wheel (Paxton). Trochodendron, from Gk. trochOs, a wheel and dendron, a tree, a reference to the spreading stamens.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
