A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
-trichiate: in Gk. comp. -trichiatus,-a,-um (adj.A), -trichialis,-e (adj.B), having certain kinds of hairs or hairiness or hairlike appendages such as flagella;

- amphitrichiatus, flagellate at each (of two) pole(s); lophiotrichiatus, q.v.; oligotrichiatus, having few hairs; hypotrichiatus, with hairs only on the ventral (under) surface; monotrichiatus,-a,-um, flagellate at one pole; oxytrichiatus, having sharp or pointed hairs; polytrichiatus, having many hairs.

Hypotricha: a suborder of Spirotricha comprising ciliates having cilia only on the ventral surface.

[lichen] Calicium trichiale; Cyphelium trichiale.
