tranquillus,-a,-um (adj.A): calm, still; see quiet; compar. tranquilior,-ius (adj.B), superl. tranquillissimus,-a,-um (adj.A); opp. turbulent, q.v.; see ‘still;’

- in sinubus profundis tranquillissimis luce minus expositis precipue exspectandae sunt Siphoneae et Dictyoteae, in deep very calm bays less exposed to the light especially are to be expected the Siphoneae and Dictyoteae.

- Hab. aliis algis parasitica, in sinubus tranquillioribus sublimosis, it grows parasitic on other algae, in somewhat muddy, more quiet bays.

- herbae aquarum tranquillarum aut lente fluentium incolae (DeCandolle), herbs, the inhabitants of quiet or slowly flowing waters.

- (alga) Hab. ad corallinas, Flabellariam cet. parasitans, in sinubus tranquillissimis infra limitem maris (Agardh), it grows parasitic on coralline [sc. algae], Flabellaria etc. in completely tranquil bays within the boundary of the sea.

- [alga] in mari substagnanti tranquilliori ut in salinis, etc. (Agardh), in nearly stagnant, more tranquile sea, as in a saltworks, etc.
