tough: tenax,-acis (adj.B) 'holding fast, griping, tenacious, firm'; durus,-a,-um (adj.A), 'hard, hard to the touch;' lentus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v., 'pliant, tough, tenacious, sticky;' opp. fragilis,-e (adj.B), easily broken, crisp, breaking into pieces;’ opp. subtilis,-e (adj.B), ‘thin, delicate;’ see fragile;

- contextu solido vel tenaci, with the context solid or tough.

- volva tenax vel lignosa, volva tough to woody.

- trama pilei tenui, tenaci-flexibili, with the flesh of the pileus thin, tough-pliant.

- basidiomata quum recentia aeque saturate aurantiaca et gelatinoso-tenacia, basidiomata when fresh evenly deeply orange and gelatinous-tough.
