1. participles: attingens,-entis (part.B), ‘attaining, reaching, touching; bordering on;’ connivens-entis (part.B), connivent, coming in contact, approaching or meeting at the tips, converging and distally contiguous, as in arcuate stamens with their anthers contiguous; contingens,-entis (part.B), ‘touching, reaching, reaching to;’ stringens,-entis (part.B), grazing, lightly touching;’ contrectans,-antis (part.B), ‘handling, fingering, touching;’ tangens,-entis (part.B), touching, coming into physical contact with, handling; bordering on, being contiguous to (syn. tractans,-antis (part.B), q.v.; all with object in acc. or ad + acc.;

- sororum series segmentorum apicem haud attingentes, series of sori the apex of the segments not touching.

- antherae labium inferius attingentes, anthers touching the lower lip.

- lamellis basem pilei attingentibus, with the gills touching the base of the pileus.

- sepala lateralia cum superiore in cucullum conniventia, lateral sepals with the upper connivent into a hood.

- sporis ad parietem interiorem leniter stringentibus, with the spores lightly touching the interior wall.

- apicibus folii ad basem capsulae contingentibus, with the apices of the leaf touching the base of the capsule.

- folia brevia, ea quae capsulas tangentia cito evanida, leaves short, those which are touching the capsules quickly fugacious.

- cellulae hyalinae intus in pariete, ubi cum chlorophylliferis contingentes, hyaline cells within the wall, where they are in contact with [contacting] the chlorophylliferous ones.

- viscidiis inter se prope continuis (prope contingentibus), with the viscidia almost touching each other.

- paries laterum tangentialium laevis, tenuis, the wall of the tangential sides smooth, thin [paries,-etis, s.m.III].

- parietes tangentiales, tangential walls, see contact-wall.

Touching-wall, contact-wall: paries,-etis (s.m.III) connivens (part.B), abl. sg. pariete conniventi; paries contiguus (adj.A), abl. sg. pariete contiguo; paries contingens (part.B), abl. sg. pariete contingenti.
