Tip: apex,-icis (s.m.III), abl.sg. apice; extremitas,-atis (s.f.III), abl. sg. extremitate; see apex, top;

- apicem versus, towards the tip.

- ab apice usque ad imum, from the top down to the bottom.

- apice, ad apicem, at the tip.

- indumento in extremitatibus inflorescentiarum ramulorumque tantum persistens, with the indument only on the extremities of the inflorescences and branchlets persisting.

NOTE: the vertex may be the summit of a structure, the apex is the tip; see vertex,-icis (s.m.III); see apex;

- carpella oo [=infinite], intra alveolos tori carnosi obconici vertice plani singillatim et inordinate fere ad apicem inclusa (B&H), carpella indeterminate, included at the flat summit one by one and irregularly almost to the tip within the alveoli of the fleshy, obconic torus.
