Teras, gen. sg. teratis, nom. & acc. pl. terata: monster; an organism … that is grossly abnormal in structure due to genetic or developmental causes (WIII) [> Gk. teras,-atos (s.n.III) “a sign, wonder, marvel, portent; anything that serves as an omen: a monster, strange creature; = L. monstrum; like Latin, ‘signum,’ a sign in the heavens, a constellation, meteor” (Liddell & Scott)]; see monster.

Hemiteria,-ae (s.f.I): “(obsol.) a monstrosity of elementary organs, or of appendages of the axis” (Lindley, quoted by Jackson) [> Gk. hemi-, half + teras, a monster].

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
