A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
tangential, tangent, touching at a single point, touching, contiguous: tangentialis,-e (adj.B) [> L. tango, tetigi, tactum, 3., to touch, to border on]; cf. contiguus,-a,-um (adj.A) 'touching, adjoining, neighboring;' ‘tangential to’ with ad + acc. (as in 'perpendicular to');

- pinnis basalibus ad rachim tangentialibus, with the basal pinnae tangential to the rachis.

- paries laterum tangentialium laevis, tenuis, the wall of the tangential sides smooth, thin [paries,-etis, s.m.III].

- paries tangentialis, the 'touching' or 'bordering' wall; abl. sg. pariete tangentiali; nom. & acc. pl. parietes tangentiales tangential walls; dat. & abl. pl. parietibus tangentialibus.

- mensurae antheridiales numero medio 11.1 um quum tangentiales atque 12.6 um quum perpendiculatae ad parietem oogonialem, antheridial measurements on average 11.1 when tangential and 12.6 um when perpendicular to the oogonial wall.
