A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
tamdiu (adv.), also separately, tam diu:

1: so (very) long, so long, for such a long time, for so long a time;

- tam sepalis persistentibus diu, with the sepals for such a long time persisting.

- dehiscentia tamdiu hieme retardata, dehiscence so long retarded by winter.

- fructus tamdiu ignotus, the fruit for such a long time unknown.

2. (for) so long (of time) … as; (for) as long (of time)... as (followed by quamdiu, quoad, dum, quam, donec, etc.);

- tamdiu capsula inoperculata quamdiu juvenis est, the capsule is inoperculate as long as it is young.

- folia vetera juvenilibus non tamdiu adhaerentibus dum juveniora, with the old leaves not so long adhereing as the younger ones.

NOTE: cf. diu (adv.): a long time, long (in sense of time).
