Tabula,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. tabula: plate, 'tablet', a print from a plate, hence full-page illustration in a book; illustration (q.v.); abbreviated t., tab. [not a dim.; > L. tabula,-ae (s.f.I), a plank, board; writing tablet; a painted tablet or panel, a painting, picture; a bed or plot of ground in a vineyard (Lewis & Short)]; cf. lamina,-ae (s.f.I); see tablet;

- [of planks, boards:] Agaricum gelatinosum, cespitosum, infundibulum dimidiatum referens, sordide aureum, Меnse Оctobri, in Falteronae jugis, in loco Саmpigna, juxta offcinam, ubi fabri serrarii Аbietum caudices in tabulas scindunt (Mich.), the gelatinous Agaric, clumped, resembling a funnel, halved, dirty golden color, in the Month of October, in the ridges of [mount] Falterona, in the Campigna region, beside the (work)shop, where the sawyers split the trunks of Abies [i.e. Fir] into planks [i.e. boards].

- Меnse Decembri, non solum in agris, sed etiam in urbanis hortis ad putrida ligna, necnon in tectorum tabulis, & ostiis ligneis (Mich.), in the month of December, not only in fields but also in urban gardens on rotted wood, and also on the boards of roofs and wooden doors.

(of illustrations): - a nobis non viso sed a Meissnero in Fl. Bras. t. 62 et 105 depicto, by us not seen but portrayed in color by Meissnerus in Fl. Bras. plate 62 and 105.

- cum tabulis XII aeneis pictis, with 12 painted bronze plates.

- monographia tabulis omnium specierum hactenus cognitarum illustrata, monograph illustrated with plates of all species up to this time known (Stearn 1983).

NOTE: the figure (figura,-ae (s.f.I), abbrev. ‘fig.’) is often used of a ‘detail’ in a larger plate (tabula,-ae (s.f.I) of figures, both of which comprise the illustration (icon,-onis (s.f.III);

- icon huius floris vid. Tab. V fig. II (Swartz), an illustration of this flower see Table [i.e. plate] 5, figure II.

t., tab. (abbrev.): tabula,-ae (s.f.I); plural: tabb: plate(s), illustration(s); see ‘t., tab.’

Tabula,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. tabule: the pileus of certain fungi (Jackson).

Tabula,-ae (s.f.I): tablet, the frustule of Diatoms when quadrangular (Jackson).

Tabula,-ae (s.f.I): tablet, the rectangular colony of Gonium” [a genus of colonial algae (order Volvocales)] (Jackson).

Tabula geographica, gen.sg. tabulae geographicae: a geographic map;

- Lichenoides nigro-flavum, tabulæ Geographicæ instar pictum. The yellow Mapp Lichemoides [colored like a geographic map] (Dill.).

- crusta est tenuissima flava, a saxis, quibus innascitur, vix separanda, variis areolis & lineis crassioribus nigris distincta, tabulæ Geographicæ inftar (Dill.), the crust is a very thin yellow, scarcely to be separated from the stones with which it grows, divided by various little spaces and thicker blact lines, like a geographic map.

Tabula infrastigmatica, a term relating to the flower of orchid genera, such as Oncidium: tabula,-ae (s.f.I), infrastigmatica (adj.A), dat. sg. tabulae infrastigmaticae, abl. sg. tabula infrastigmatica.

Tabula,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. tabula,‘ a bed or plot of ground in a vineyard.’
Tabula,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. tabule: the pileus of certain fungi (Jackson).
