Synopsis,-is (s.f.III), abl.sg. synopse: general view, survey, synopsis; = L. conspectus,-us (s.m.IV), q.v.; “a condensed description of a genus or other group of plants [> Gk. synopsis, a glance] (Jackson); “a brief, orderly outline affording a quick general view, a condensed statement; abstract” (WIII) a summarized synopsis or précis of a longer work. A small book or written work summarizing the major points of a general topic [> Gk. synopsis,-eOs (s.f.III), “a seeing all together, general view, whether of the eyes or of the mind” (Liddell & Scott)]; cf. ‘outline;’ cf. ‘list;’ cf. ‘survey;’
