superpositus,-a,-um (part.A): superposed, superimposed, overlapped, placed over or upon, situated above, overlaid vertically above another part, as in axillary buds in pairs with one pair directly above the other, or the basal lobes of a leaf overlapped; “stationed above anything; placed one above another, as ovules in an ovary” (Lindley); “placed vertically over some other part” (Jackson) [> L. superpono,-posui,-positum, 3, to put or place over or upon, to place over or above];

- semina oo, 2-seriatim superposita, horizontalia v. suspensa (B&H), seeds indeterminate, 2-seriately superimposed, horizontal or suspended.

- operculo os capsulae superposito, with the operculum placed over the mouth of the capsule [os = neut. sg.acc.].

- pilis superficiem laminae superpositis, with the hairs placed over the surface of the lamina.

- verrucae magnae, per cellulam singulae, in superficie cellulae abaxiali superpositae, verrucae large, a single one per cell, positioned over the abaxial surface of the cell.

- perianthia auriculis post rostrum superpositis, perianths with auricles behind the beak overlapped.

- ovula solitaria v. 2 superposita, anatropa, adscendentia, raphe ventrali (B&H), ovules solitary or 2 superimposed, anatropous, ascending, with the raphe ventral.

- ovulis-2, supra basin superpositis, with ovules 2, superimposed above the base.

- ovulis prope basin 2 superpositis, with the ovules 2, superimposed near the base.

- sepala petaloidea, numerò 2-3-nario (rarissime 4-nario), 2-oo seriatim imbricata v. extima valvata per anthesin saepius 4- v. 6-fariam [in 4- or 6-rowes] superposita; sepals petaloid, with the number in two’s or three’s (very rarely in fours), 2-[indeterminate] serially imbricate, or the outermost valvate, during anthesis very often overlapped in 4 or 6-rows.

- sepala 8, petaloidea, plana, exterioribus minoribus minusque coloratis, et petala 4 nectariiformia cucullata v. calcarata quadrifariam superposita (B&H), sepals 8, petaloid, [flat, with the outer smaller and less colored, and the petals 4, shaped like nectaries, cucullate or calcarate in 4-rows superimposed [i.e. placed one row above the other in 4 rows].

- loculis parallelis, v. 4-locellaris locellis per paria superpositis.(B&H), with locules parallel or 4-locellar, with the locelli superimposed in pairs.

- loculis parallelis superpositisve, with locules parallel or superimposed.

- ovula oo, ad margines placentarum v. in centro dissepimenti 2-seriatim superposita (B&H), ovules indeterminate, 2-seriately [=in two rows] superimposed on the margins of the placentae or in the center of the dissepiment.

superimpositus,-a,-um (part.A): put, placed or laid upon, superimposed, layered, stratified, overlaid or -lain, placed in a covering position, overlapped [> L. superimpono, superimpositum, 3, to put, place or lay upon];

- laminis 4-fariam superimpositis, with the laminae superimposed in 4-rows.

- papillis dense epicutem superimpositis, with papillae densely laid over the epicutis.

- cellulis in stratis dense superimpositis, with the cells in layers densely superimposed.
