A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Supercilium,-ii (s.n.II), abl.sg. supercilio, nom. & acc. pl. supercilia: to eye-brow; “the prominent part of a thing, the brow, ridge, summit; a threshold; of the coast of the sea; pride, haughtiness, arrogance, sternness (Lewis & Short); see ridge;

- [Lichen Pulmonarius] in sterilioribus collibus Imprunetae, & circa Plebaniam Cercinae in saxorum superciliis (Mich.), in the more sterile [i.e. less fertile] hills of Impruneta, and around the Plebania [= frazione] of Cercina on the ridges of stone.

- dicit odorem cordi familiarem ac gratum esse: in petrosis Suditorum superciliis nasci (Dill.), he reports the odor to be familiar to the spirit [i.e. heart] and pleasing: to arise on the rocky ridges of the Sudetes Mts.
