A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
stuffed, packed, crammed: farctus,-a,-um (part.A), farctilis,-e (adj.B). "Used when interior is filled with substance of very different texture from the exterior; cf. filled" (Stearn); confertus,-a,-um (part.A), conferted, pressed or packed close together, crowded, densely crowded, thickly packed; referctus,-a,-um (part.A), refertus,-a,-um (part.A) stuffed, crammed, filled; farctus,-a,-um (part.A), stuffed, filled, or solid with tissue softer than the outside (Stearn); both with object in genitive (full of) or ablative (filled full with); impletus,-a,-um (part.A), repletus,-a,-um (part.A), filled full + genitive or abl.; opp. cavus,-a,-um (adj.A), ‘hollow;’ see medullary; see ‘abounding in,’ see ‘full;’ see crowded; see packed;

- pileus farctus vel excavascens, pileus stuffed or hollowing out.

- contextus in centro stipitis byssaceus, farctus, context in the center of the stipe cottony, stuffed.

- ovarium supra loculum plus minus in rostrum farctum (rarius cavum) productum (B&H), ovary extended above the locule more or less into a solid beak (more rarely hollow).

- stipite hyphis laxe intertextis dense refercto, with a stipe crammed with loosely interwoven hyphae.

- capsulae sporarum referctae, capsules stuffed with spores.

- semen loculo conforme, testa endocarpio accreta succo atro balsameo farcta (B&H), seed conforming to the locule, the test united with the endocarp, filled with a black resinous sap.

- fructus intus unilocularis et continuus, v. interdum pulpa repletus, v. inter semina substantia cellulosa farctua, v. septis spuriis cum endocarpio continuis transverse divisus, fruit inside unilocular and continuous, or sometimes full of pulp, or stuffed between the seeds with a cellulose substance.

- capitula corymbum densum terminalem conferta, the capitula crowded [i.e. packed or crammed] into a dense, terminal corymb.
