A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Stomach (Eng.noun): stomachus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. stomacho [> Gk. stomachos (s.m.II)].

Acria (n.pl.III), gen.pl. acrium: “bitter or acid foods as affecting the stomach; acid secretions; (also applied to the stomach)” (Glare); see acer, acris, acre (adj.B).

NOTE: the belly, q.v., is the external region, the stomach is an organ; stomachus is not synonymous with venter (L., q.v.) or gaster (Gk., q.v.); ventriculus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. ventriculo: the belly, the stomach; a ventricle, as of the heart; alvus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. alvo: the stomach, digestive organs; the womb; the bowels, belly; see abdomen.
stomach, of or pertaining to the belly: ventriculosus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v.
stomach, having a large belly or protruding stomach, pot-bellied: ventricosus,-a,-um (adj.A).
stomach, with the stomach bellying out: ventruosus,-a,-um (adj.A).
stomach, of or belonging to the belly, ventral: ventralis,-e (adj.B), q.v.
