stimulans,-antis (part.B): exciting or stimulating an action, setting in motion; tormenting, pricking with a goad or sting; syn. destimulans,-antis (part.B), syn. pungens,-entis (part.B), q.v. [> L.stimulo,-are,-avi,-atum 1., to prick with a goad, to trouble, distress, torment; to set in motion, incite, to stimulate or excite to an action]; opp. inhibens,-entis (part.B), q.v.; see stinging;

- temperatura calidior crescentiam stimulans, frigidior inhibens, warmer temperature exciting growth, colder inhibiting.

- tempora frigida dehiscentiam destimulantia, frigid weather stimulating dehiscence.

- ignis ad crescere stimulans, fire stimulating to growing.
