-stemma,-atis (s.n.III), abl.sg. -stemmate: in Gk. comp., garland, wreath, wound around a stick or staff, but sometimes around the head, hence a crown; see crown;

- Adelostemma,-stemmatis (s.n.III), abl. sg. Adelostemmate; Belostemma,-atis; Centrostemma; Drepanostemma; Epistemma; Fimbristemma;

- Hyalostemma,-atis, with a hyaline crown or wreath, referring to the arrangement of the petals: pétala saepe in vivo hyaliná (B&H), the petals often in life hyaline.

Agrostemma,-stemmatis, abl. sg. Agrostemmate > Gk. agros, field + stemma, crown” (Fernald 1950)] perhaps indicating the species is the "glory of the fields."

Callistemma,-atis (s.n.III). The name refers to the beautiful flowers; and is derived from callistos, prettiest, and stemma, a, crown (Paxton),

HEMISTEMMA [‘Half-crowned, referring to a garland wound around a staff; referring to the unilateral stamens on one side of the carpels].

Porphyrostemma,-atis (s.n.III), > Gk. prophyr-, purple + -stemma, garland, wreath, crown.
