A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Slime spore: (fungi) “a spore that becomes separated with slime from the cell producing it (Mason, 1937)” (Ainsworth & Bisby), (fungi) “a spore that is separated with slime from its parent hypha, that is, by autolysis, as distinguished from ‘dry spore’ (Mason, 1937); ‘myxospore’” (S&D).

Gloeospore, (fungi) slime spore, “’spore’ with a gelatinous sheath or formed in a mucilaginous matrix” (S&D): gloeospora,-ae (s.f.I).

Myxospore: (fungi) “(obsol.) a myxomycete spore” (Ainsworth & Bisby); (fungi) “1. an old term for the spore of the Myxomycetes; 2. Vuillemin’s ‘plasmaspore’ (1912); 3. Mason’s ‘slime spore’ (1937) (see Langeron, 1945)” (S&D): myxospora,-ae (s.f.I).

Plasmaspore (fungi) “Falck’s term (1909) for a sticky spore or contact spore borne in a sporangium, in a morphological sense; see Vuillemin, 1912” (S&D): plasmaspora,-ae (s.f.I).
