Siliqua: see silique;

Siliqua,-ae (s.f.I), a genus, a type of plant (Tourne.)

- Siliqua est plantae genus, flore apetalo, plurimis nempe staminibus constante ex divisuris calycis nascentibus, cujus meditullium occupant pistillum, quod deinde abit in fructum seu siliquam planam, veluti carnosam, seminibus foetam planis pariter & subrotundis (Tourn.), ‘Siliqua’ is a type of plant, lacking petals [apetalous], composed of quite a few [= many] stamens arising from the divisions of the calyx, the pistil of which it occupies the middle, which finally changes into a fruit or flat silique, as if fleshy, uniformly full of flat or somewhat rounded seeds.

- Siliquastrum, a genus;

- Siliquastrum est plantae genus, flore papilionaceo, alis tamen, vexillo supereminentibus, carináque ex duobus petalis composita: pistillum autem staminibus obvolutum, ex calyce emergens abit deinde in siliquam planam, membranaceam, seminibus foetam, quasi reniformibus. His notis addenda sunt folia alterno ordine disposita (Tourn.), Siliquastrum is a type of plant, with the paplionaceous [i.e. butterfly-like] flower, even with wings, with the vexillum [i.e. banner petal] rising above them, and a keel composed of two petals: the pistil [however] is enveloped by the stamens, when emerging from the calyx it changes into a flat, membranaceous silique, full of seeds as if reniform. disposed in an alternate arrangement… reniform. Adding by these notes that the leaves are arranged in an alternate order.
