secedens,-entis (part.B): splitting apart, rupturing, at first attached but later separating (Stearn) [> L. secedo, secedere, -cessi,-cessum 3., to go apart, go away, secede; withdraw]; cf. abrumpens,-entis (part. B), breaking off; see ‘separating;’

- et secedentibus filis apertis, nucleum adparenter simplicem, and with the separating the filaments breaking apart, the nucleus apparently simple.

- parte distali subfragili, in gemmam sphaericam secedenti, with the distal part somewhat fragile, splitting off in a spherical bud.

- carpella ab axi secedentia sed ope nervi liberi a columna centrali diu dependentia (B&H), the carpels, splitting off from the axis but by the use of a free vein hanging for a long time from the central column.

- epicarpio interdum in valvas 2-4 secedente pyrenas nudante, with the epicarpium sometimes rupturing into 2-4 valves uncovering the pyrenes.

- carpella matura ab axi secedentia (B&H), mature carpells splitting apart from the axis.

- septis spuriis cum endocarpio continuis transverse divisus, et tunc nonnunquam maturitate in articulos monospermos secedens (B&H), with spurious septa continuous with the endocarp transversly divided, and at that time sometimes at maturity separating into monospermous segments.

- vaginae secedentes hyalino-membraneae, aetate ñervos setiformes relinquunt (F. Mueller), the splitting sheathes hyaline-membranous, with age leaving behind bristle-shaped nerves.

- carpella matura ab axi secedentia (B&H), mature carpels separating from the axis.

- fructus in bina secedens, fruit splitting apart into two.

- perichaetium cuspidatum, e squamis angustis, superius libere secedentibus (Dill.), the perichaetium cuspidate, [composed of] narrow scales, the upper ones freely separating off.

- [Cruciferae] fructus elongatus (Siliqua) v. brevis (Silicula), bilocularis v. septo incompleto 1-locularis; saepissime bivalvis, valvis a septo margine placentifero replo apice stigmatifero secedentibus (B&H), the fruit is elongate (a silique) or short (Silicula), bilocular or 1-locular by an incomplete septum; most often bivalved, with the valves placenta-bearing by a septum at the margine, [the valves] splitting apart by a replum at the apex.
