Scree, talus; scree: “a heap of stones or rocky debris lying on a slope or at the base of a cliff: talus (WIII); ta;us = “(French, ‘slope’) an accumulation of loose [rock] fragments at the base of rocks (Warming)” (Jackson); slump (as of hillsides): glara,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. glara, "adapted from Spanish, scritha,-ae (s.f.I), [abl.sg. scritha] adapted from Old Norse" (Stearn): glara,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. glara; scritha,-ae (s.f.I), scree, talus; see rudus, -eris; cf. glarea,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. glarea, gravel; see glareosus,-a,-um (adj.A); see gravel;

- glara vel scritha est clivus alpestris saxis deorsum conjectis cooptertus, a scree is an alpine slope wholly covered by rocks thrown downwards (Stearn).

Scrupicola,-ae (s.f.I), in epithets, a noun in apposition): growing on broken rock, such as talus and scree;

Astragalus scrupulicola Fern. & Weath., “growing on broken rock;” a plant of dry calcareous cliffs and talus of the Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec (Fernald 1950).
