A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Saccus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. sacco: a sac, q.v.; a sack, bag, pouch [> L. = Gk. sakkos, a sack, bag; esp. a money-bag (purse), a wallet; also a bag (for straining wine through)]; “a bag or cup; a term sometimes applied to the coronet of Stapelia, &c.” (Lindley; Jackson) [> L. saccus,-I (s.m.II) “a large bag or sack; a bag used for straining liquids; a bag used for applying poultices” (Glare)];

a small or minute sac = sacculus,-i (s.m.II), q.v.; see pouch; see sac.

Pharm. saccus,-i (s.m.II) = a filter bag, pressing cloth (Bennitt).

sacco,-avi,-atum 1. “to strain through a bag” (Bennitt).
