A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
sacciformis,-e (adj.B): bag-shaped, pouch-shaped, sack-shaped; “sacciform; having the form of a bag” (Lindley).

- semina in pulpa nidulantia, arillo sacciformi apice aperto induta, albuminosa. (B&H), seeds nesting [i.e. embedded] in pulp, clothed with a sac-like aril, open at the apex, full of albumen.

- [Peziza onotica; fungus] pauca semel legimus specimina, inter quae tamen item unum erat monstrosum ventricoso-sacciforme ingens, 5 uncias diametro aequans (S&D), once we found a few specimens, among which, however, there was one besides that was an enormous ventricose [i.e. swelling unequally]-bag-shaped monstrosity equalling 5 inches in diameter.

- (fungi) Peziza leporina var. sacciformis: “(ventricoso-hemisphaerica) [i.e. asymmetrically swollen and half-globe shaped” (S&A).
