A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
rupestris,-e (adj.B): rupestral, rocky, rock-dwelling; “growing on rocks, or in rocky places” (Lindley) [> L. rupes, gen. sg. rupis (s.f.III), rock, cliff]; cf. stone-dwelling: saxicolous;

- ad rupes graniticas erraticas ubique, everywhere on erratic granitic rocks.

- campus rupestris (adj.B): in South America (campo rupestre), rocky grassland.

- plantae epiphyticae, raro rupestres vel terrestres, plants epiphytic, rarely rupestral or terrestrial [i.e. growing on rock or soil].

- in collibus aridis rupestribus basalticis ad rivum Dépôt Creek, fluvii Victoriae, nec in humidis (F. Mueller), on the dry, rocky basalt hills on the river Depot Creek of the Victoria River, not in moist places.

Andreaea rupestris, an alpine moss growing on rocks, cliffs.
