A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
revolubilis,-e (adj.B): capable of being rolled back, of becoming revolute; (in mosses) referring to an annulus that falls in a ring, as in species of Funaria; (in bryophytes) “rolling away; referring to an annulus that falls in a ring” (C&A); “rolling away, referring to an annulus that falls in a broken ring” (Magill 1990); see annulus,-i (s.m.II);

- [moss] annulo revolubile magniore, by its revolubile annulus larger.

- operculum margine annulo majusculo albido mox revolubili fimbriatum (C. Muell.) the operculum with a margin fringed with a somewhat large annulus, whitish, soon rolled back.

- theca annulo duplici revolubili praedita (C. Muell.) with the theca provided with a double, revoluble annulus.

- annulo composito revolubili, with a compound, revoluble annulus.

revoluble: (of an annulus) deciduous cells in a ring separating from the capsule mouth and margin of the operculum, detaching in a curled row, in a broken or intact ring Funariaceae), with dehiscence of the capsule; see annulus.

Angstroemia coarctata, C. Muell., theca in pedunculo elongato apice parum inclinata erecta ore coarctata basi strumosa annulo lato valde revolubili praedita (C. Muell.), theca on an elongate peduncle [i.e. seta] slightly inclined, erect, drawn together at the mouth, strumose at the base, provided with a strongly revoluble annulus.
