A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
resinous: resinaceus,-ea,-eum (adj.A), resinosus,-a,-um (adj.A); “1. of, relating to, containing, like, or obtained from resin; 2. of or relating to a luster of certain minerals and rocks ... that on fractured surfaces have the appearance of resin” (WIII);

- arbores fruticesve, nonnunquam epiphyticae, succo resinoso saepe flavo v. virescente scatentes (B&H), trees or shrubs, sometimes epiphytic, abounding in a resinous sap often yellow or greenish.

- [Dryobalanops] arbor resinosa, camphorifera (B&H), a resinous tree, camphor-bearing.

- drupa obliqua, laevis, mesocarpio resinoso, endocarpio crustaceo l-loculari l-spermo (B&H), the drupe oblique, smooth, with the mesocarp resinous, the endocarp encrusted, 1-locular, 1-seeded.

- foliis oblongo-linearibus resinoso-punctatis (F. Mueller), with the leaves oblong-linear, resinous-punctate [i.e. with resinous dots].

- semina pulpa resinosa obducta (DeCandolle), seeds covered with a resinous flesh.

- herbae, frutices, suffrutices et arbores, saepe succu resinoso donatae aut variis glandulis obsitae(DeCandolle), herbs, shrubs, subshrubs and trees, often with a resinous sap or beset with glands of different kinds.

- alabastrum abunde resinosum (DeCandolle), the (flower) bud abundantly resinous.

- altera acicolas, in foliis, ramulis, corticibus arborum acerosarum resinosis parasiticas (S&A), the others parasitic, dweller on [needle-leaves] on resinous leaves, twigs, bark of acerose [i.e. evergreen] trees.

- fungus recens pressus resinae analogon quoddam edit (S&A), the fresh fungus when pressed gives forth a certain analogue [i.e. similarity] to resin.

- semina in pulpa resinosa nidulantia. (B&H), seeds nesting in a resinous flesh.

- bacca intus saepe resinosa, tardius valvatim dehiscens (B&H), the berries often resinous inside, more slowly valvately dehiscing.

- habitus etiam et succus resinosus peculiares sunt (B&H), also the habit and the resinous sap are peculiar [i.e. to the Order].

Aphanopetalum resinosum; Eremophila resinosa; Gardenia resinosa (Arbórea, resinoso-viscosa, tree-like (i.e. woody), viscose-resinous); Pinus resinosa Ait.
