pyxidatus,-a,-um (adj.A): furnished with a lid, as some capsules (Jackson); “provided with a pyxis or a lid” (Stearn 1996), provided with a pyxis or pyxidium; “(in fungi) “furnished with a lid; of pertaining to, of having the character of a pyxis (box); boxlike” (S&D); cf. operculate, q.v., provided with an operculum or lid; “box-shaped” (Paxton); “resembling or constituting a pyxidium” (WIII) > L. & Gk. pyxis,-idis (s.f.III), q.v., box, container.

[lichen] “frons pyxidata:” “Cup-bearing (pyxidata or scyphifera) when [the frond] has the appearance of a cup, as Lichen pyxidatus” (Willdenow).

[fungus] Agaricus pyxidatus. [fern] Davallia pyxidata.

[lichen] Cladonia pyxidata; Lichen pyxidatus (Parmeliaceae) Conostegia pyxidata (Melastomataceae).
