A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
pratensis,-e (adj.B): growing in meadows; “of the meadows” (Stearn 1996) [> L. pratum,-i (s.n.II), q.v.];

- cyperus minimus pratensis, capitulo stricto, singulari (Swartz), a very small Cyperus, growing in meadows, with a capitulum erect, single.

- duo tantum fungi pulcherrimi exempla pratensia (Hungersnoth) in foliis Orchidis conopseae obvia nobis fuere (S&A), only two meadow specimens of [this] most beautiful fungus on the leaves of Orchis conopsea were met with by us.

- passim provenit in Betonicae officinali pratensis foliis, virorem suum desuper paene conservantibus (S&A), everywhere it appears living in meadows, on the leaves of Betonica officinalis, almost preserving its own green color from on top down.

Crataegus pratensis; Equisetum pratense Ehrh., Meadow-Horsetail; Lycoperdon pratense, a mushroom; Succisia pratensis, of meadows.
