plenus,-a,-um (adj.A); compar. plenior,-ius (adj.B), ‘fuller, larger;’ full, filled with anything; full of, full + genitive; (of bodily size) stout, bulky, portly, plump; full packed with + abl.; entire, complete, full; full, abundant, plentiful, much; (of age) full, advanced, ripe, mature; full, filled; complete, finished, copious; full of, abounding or rich in anything; see ‘filled;’

- luna,-ae (s.f.I) plena, the full moon.

(of flowers) double (as by mutation where petals are double their normal number or reproductive organs are converted into petals);

abbr. fl. pl.

- flos plenus, a double flower (Jackson; Stearn); “double, as in double flowers” (Lindley).

- flore pleno, with a 'double' flower (Stearn); Narcissus jonquilla flore pleno, the double jonquil.

- variat flore purpureo albo et flavo, saepius in hortis pleno (DeCandolle), it varies with a purple, white and yellow flowers, more often double in gardens.

- Aquilegia corniculata, flore pleno, petalis calcaratis, calcaribus deorsum productis (DeCandolle), Aquilegia corniculata, with the flower double, with the petals spurred, with the spurs elongated on the back.

- Aquilegia stellata, flore pleno, petalis planis ecalcaratis coloratis (DeCandolle), Aquilegia stellata, with the flower double, with the petals flat, lacking a spur, colored.

- Ranunculus gramineus, var. hortensis, foliis lineari lanceolatis, flore pleno (DeCandolle), var. hortensis [i.e. horticultural variety] with leaves linear-lanceolate, with a double flower.

- Anemone palmata: var.? [sic] flore plena. A. hortensis latifolia, etc. (DeCandolle), Anemone palmata: perhaps a variety with a double flower. A. hortensis, latifolia, etc.

(of age) - flos est pleni veris indicium, [the flower is the mark of full [i.e. advanced] spring].

- campus rimarum plenus, a field full of cracks.

- capsulae sporarum plenae, the capsules full of spores, filled with spores.

- protoplastus olei plenus, protoplast full of oil (Stearn).

- plenus succi, full of juice (succus,-i, s.m.II).

+ abl.;

- domus plena ornamentis, a house filled with ornaments (embellishments).

- capsula plena sporis abortivis, the capsule is full of abortive spores.

- urbes pecunia plenae, cities filled with riches (wealth).

(mature, (of liquids) reduced;

- Baccas in fictili aut aheno per se ad mediocrem consistentiam coquunt, nullo addito liquore; cum enim succi pleni sint & molles, alieno humore irrigari non expetunt (Ray), they cook the berries in an earthern or a brass [or copper, sc. vessel], as such, to a medium consistency [i.e. thickness], with no liquid added; for when the juice many be full [i.e. reduced] and soft, they do not want [it] to be watered with a moisture not belonging to it.
