A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
perennating, perennate, to live over from season to season, be perennial, to persist, over-wintering: perennans,-antis (part.B) [> L. perenno,-avi,-atum 1. to last many years, to endure]; see overwintering;

- herbae annuae v. radicibus perennantibus (B&H), herbs annual or with overwintering roots.

- herbae perennantes v. rarius annuae, succo flavo (B&H), herbs perennial or more rarely annual, with a yellow sap.

- herbae caudice ceaspitoso v. ope surculorum perennantes (B&H), herb with a caespitose caudex or [living over from season to season, i.e. perennating or perennial] with the help of suckers.

- rhizomate perennante e quo surculos florentes quotannis orto, with a perennating rhizome from which flowering shoots annually arise.

- herbae erectae, bienniales v. caule basi perennante, erect herbs, biennial or at the base with the stem over-wintering [i.e. perennial].

Agrostis perennans (Walt.) Tuckerm.
