A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
pauc-, pauci-: in L. comp., few- [> L. paucus,-a,-um (adj.A) few, little in number]; opp. mult-, multi-, q.v., and pluri-, q.v.: multiramosus, pluriramosus, with many branches.

NOTE: olig-, q.v., oligo-, in Gk. comp. ‘few-; a small number.’

NOTE: parvi-, q.v.: in L. comp. small, little (in size), e.g. parviflorus, with small flowers; but pauciflorus, with few flowers.

- pauciceps, with few heads; paucicellularis, few-celled; paucidentatus, few-toothed; pauciflorus, few-flowered; paucifoliatus, with few leaves; paucifolius, few-leaved; paucijugus, with few pairs of leaflets; paucinervis, paucinervius,few-nerved; paucipunctatus, with a few spots; pauciramosus, with few branches (Stearn); paucispiulatus, few-spikeleted.

- multiflorus, many-flowered, pauciflorus, with few flowers; multiradiatus (part.A), many-rayed; pauciradiatus (part. A), few-rayed (Stearn).
