A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
obcordate, reversed cordate with deep sinus remote from attachment: obcordatus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- petala 5, deltoidea, obcordata v. 2-loba (B&H), petals 5, deltoid, obcordate or 2-lobed.

- coccis chartaceis dorso convexis obcordatis intus dehiscentibus ab axi 3-partito solutis (B&H), the carpels papery, convex on the back, obcordate, deshiscent inside, falling apart from a 3-parted axis.

- cupula in junioribus e globoso obcordata, cavitate interna exigua (S&A), the cupule in younger [specimens] from globose obcordate, with a weak internal cavity.

- modo sessile, modo substipitatum; teretiusculum, dum vi vitali vigentissima, turget, dein in formam obcordatam vel obovatam plus minus compressum (S&A), sometimes sessile, sometimes somewhat stalked, roundish, it puffs up as long as it is most flourishing with vital force, finally it is more or less compressed into an obcordate or obovate shape.

- peridium plus minus compressum, modo obcordatum, modo subglobosum (S&A), the peridium more or less compressed, sometimes obcordate, sometimes nearly globose.

obcordato-reniformis,-e (adj.B): reversely heart-shaped, reversed heart-shaped with deep sinus remote from attachment to reniform, i.e. crescent-shaped, with the ends rounded;

- vexillum obcordato-reniforme,luteum, prope medium sanguineo-signatum (F. Mueller), the vexillum obcordate-kidney-shaped, yellow, near the middle blood-red-marked.
