A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

nodi-; -noded: in L. comp., -nodus,-a,-um (adj.A), -nodis,-e (adj.B);

- cilinodus, cilinodis, with ciliate nodes; internodus, internodis, associated with the internodes; multinodus, multinodis, with many nodes; paucinodus, paucinodis, few-noded.

- nodiflorus, flowering at the nodes; with flowers collected into heads.

Polygonum cilinode, Michx., a species with the “ocreae bearing a ring of reflexed bristles at the base” (Fernald 1950).

NOTE: the genus Anoda Cav. (s.f.I), A. cristata var. brachyanthera, is “a Ceylonese colloquial [name] for Abutilon, taken over by Cavanilles and applied to this genus” (Fernald 1950).

NOTE: not to confuse with -odes,-dis (adj.C): Gk. adj. suffix, in Gk. comp., ‘like, resembling.’

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
