Membranula,-ae (s.f.I): a little skin or membrane; “(obsol.) the indusium of Ferns” (Lindley);

- [Polytrichum nanum] EPIPHRAGMA membranula tenerrima albicans constituit, dentium apicibus adglutinatum (Hedw.), the epiphragm constitutes a very delicate little membrane, whitish, adhering together at the apices of the teeth.

- [moss] PERISTOMA INTERNVM validius paulo, quam in praecedente specie, itidem e membranula marginem aperturae excedente (Hedw.), the inner peristome somewhat more robust than in the preceding species, similarly from a small membrane rising above the margin of the aperature [i.e. mouth].
