A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
medianus,-a,-um (adj.A): that which is in the middle, middle, median, medial, central; see medius,-a,-um; see mediocris,-e (adj.B);

- sporae visu mediano subcuneiformes usque elongatae, spores in median view subcuneiform to elongate.

- cellulis medianis folii 36-46 um longis, with median cells [i.e. in the middle of the leaf] 36-46 um long.

- sporae visu mediano subcuneiformes usque elongatae, spores in median view subcuneiform to elongate.

- species 8,Europam mediam, Regiones Mediterráneas incolentes(B&H), species 8, occupying the middle of Europe, Mediterranean regions.

- ovarium 3-lobum, lobis dorso 3-cristatis lobuloque infra cristam mediam appendiculatis (B&H), the ovary 3-lobed, with the lobes on the back 3-crested and the lobule below the middle [i.e. central???] crest appendaged.

- capsula ovato-lanceolata, ima basi calycis tubo suffulta, secus lineam mediani dehiscens (B&H), capsule ovate-lanceolate, far below at the base, subtended by the tube of the calyx, dehiscing along a median line.

- dentibus peristomii ratione longitudiuis capsulae brevibus, lineari-acmuinatis, linea mediana longitudinali destitutis (DozyMoek), with the teeth of the peristome by reason of the length of the capsule short, linear-acuminate, lacking the length-wise median line.
