A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
loratus,-a,-um (adj.A), loriformis,-e (adj.B): lorate, ligulate, strap-shaped, i.e. moderately long with the two margins parallel; (fungi) “like a narrow band; strap-like in form; ligulate” (Ainsworth & Bisby); (fungi) strap-shaped; ‘ligulate’ (S&D) [> L. loratus > lorum,-i (s.n.II), thong, strap, especially for binding]; the overall appearance may be ‘stringy;’ see lorum,-i (s.n.II); see banded; see ligulate; see -loris,-e (adj.B), ‘-striped;’ see ligulate; see banded, striped.

loratus = ligulatus,-a,-um (adj.A): strap-shaped, narrow, moderately long, with the two margins parallel” (Lindley); “strap-shaped, ligulate” (Jackson).
